CMS Innovations

Unit 20, 36 O'Riordan St
Alexandria, NSW 2025
Booth #: 117
Contact Name: Andrew Ian Sinclair
CMS has developed a revolutionary approach to fouling detection for RO and NF membranes, with standard spiral-wound membranes of almost any type modified with implanted sensors and transmission electronics.

Sensors capture electrical impedance spectroscope and conductivity measurements at the membrane surface, with data transmitted wirelessly through the pressure vessel.

CMS has adapted established impedance spectroscopy science to identify the various fouling states that affect membrane performance and salt rejection. The system developed allows on-line monitoring of concentration polarisation layers and early identification of organic, inorganic and biological fouling and the accumulation of mineral scale. Real time detection provides early fouling identification to enable timely adoption of maintenance or operational changes.

In-situ monitoring of feed and permeate conductivity at specific locations within the spiral-wound membrane module provides more accurate assessment of salt rejection and an early indication of fouling or scaling creep resulting from over-driving the plant.

Significant savings arise from improved plant utilisation, more effective chemical dosing, reduced maintenance chemicals and prolonged module life.

CMS eModules are standard modules manufactured by leading manufacturers but with an array of inbuilt CMS sensors. Proprietary algorithms interrogate the data, including data provided by plant operators, presenting operators with analysis predominately in graphical format. CMS assists in providing interpretive support.
